Personal Statement

Nancy's work is pure in form, simple in style and uncompromising in it's quality. Working in solid 14k and 18k gold, her jewelry carries no unnecessary embellishment which may detract from the elegant lines and basic forms of her designs. She uses the age old technique of forging with a hammer and anvil to create her jewelry and finds it fascinating that in a time when the world is so dependent on technology, she is in fact de
pendent on a skill that dates back thousands of years. Not only does the forging technique allow Nancy to create three dimensional and complex shapes, but during the forging process the gold is work hardened and strengthened by repeated hammer blows, thus creating fine lightweight jewelry that is delicate but strong and everlasting.
Starting with a design concept, Nancy begins her creative journey at the drawing board. At this early stage of development she considers the design feasibility with regard to the making process as well as the final aesthetics. Echoing Northern European minimalism Nancy's jewelry designs stem from architectural and geometric shapes. Her work is finished with a high polish and some pieces are additionally enhanced with piercing, texture, gemstones and diamonds. Nancy strives to produce work that is original, yet timeless; jewelry for the modern woman. She hopes that those who wear her jewelry will enjoy and treasure her pieces for a lifetime.
